2024 Call for Presentations

Presentation proposal submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, August 7, 2024

The 2024 Prevention Summit will be held in-person at The Westin in Seattle, WA on October 30th and 31st. Workshops will be between 45-60 minutes long and keynotes 60 minutes. However, please keep in mind that times are subject to change depending on the number and type of proposals.

Presentation Topics and Conference Theme

Presentations should fit into one of the eleven (12) possible topics below related to substance use prevention.

Highlighted Presentation Topics:

  1. Current and emerging substance use issues/trends
  2. Engaging community members and sectors into substance use prevention efforts
  3. Environmental and policy strategies to address substance use
  4. Evidence-based program and strategy implementation in different contexts with a variety of different populations of focus
  5. Health equity and cultural relevance in substance use prevention
  6. Mental health promotion and suicide prevention
  7. Practical tools and application for Prevention Professionals
  8. Prevention of substance use across the lifespan
  9. Substance use prevention media campaign messaging
  10. Increasing youth’s passion to address substance use prevention
  11. Youth leadership development
  12. Youth Gaming & Gambling

There are many strategies confirmed by research that positively impact health behaviors and choices of young people. We ask that all presentations align with the strategies outlined in Washington’s Best Practices for Substance Abuse Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Guide Prevention tools: What works, what doesn’t . If your presentation proposal appears to carry severe risks and propose ineffective strategies which can cause harm to attendees by unintentionally reinforcing and promoting pro-use attitudes, this may affect the acceptance of your proposal for the Prevention Summit.
